The Fit for 55 package is a comprehensive set of policies aimed at reducing the European Union's greenhouse gas emissions by 55% by 2030, as part of the European Green Deal. Proposed by the European Commission in July 2021, the package includes measures such as extending the European Union Emissions Trading System to transport and heat, and introducing a Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism. The package has been largely adopted by the European Parliament and the Council, with the exception of the Energy Taxation Directive.
